Curious about who’s who at Mediawijs? Who is an expert in what topic, and who works on what projects?
Mediawijs primarily creates its own campaigns and projects like The Scale of M, News in the Classroom and MediaNest, in order to help young and old become media literate. We also support partner projects, like Safer Internet Day and European Media Literacy Week.
Through courses (e.g., our Media Coach training), knowledge sharing (e.g., the Mediawijs convention and the informative cases on our website) and practical development, Mediawijs tries to help shape the digital and media literacy sector.
Mediawijs convenes at least 4 expert groups per year to create a state-of-play about a topic within the sector and the research field. This helps us identify needs and creates opportunities to update cases and develop new initiatives. Additionally, experts can inform each other on current and recent projects in the sector and in research. If you want to suggest a topic for an expert group, please feel free to contact us.
Mediawijs continuously keeps up to date with the most recent developments in the media (literate) behaviour of citizens. Research like the MediaNest Data and Apestaartjaren, for example, map out the media possession and use of children and young people. We also investigate trends in media literacy and check on the state of the media literacy sector.
Mediawijs is closely involved with vision and policy development around digital and media literacy in Flanders, Brussels, Belgium and Europe. Mediawijs develops policy tools and whitepapers, assists local governments in the creation of a media literacy policy, and is a prominent partner to several social organisations and associations.
The Media Coach course helps your organisation level up in the digital world. Your wide knowledge base qualifies you as a coach, first point of contact and inspiration for everything to do with media literacy. A Media Coach can be of great use at school, at the library or in special youth care, but also in any organisation that could use a digital step-up. Read more.
Screen time, social media, privacy on the internet, … The digital world brings up lots of questions for parents. They can find the answers on MediaNest: the website about media education for children from 0 to 18 years old. Read more.
